About Me

Lauren in her art studio with shelves of supplies

Hi I’m Lauren,

I'm an abstract artist, living in beautiful sunny Southern California. I’ve always been an artist but have more recently fallen in love with fluid paint. Before fluid art, I used to do realistic drawings with charcoal!

Today, my work features abstract interpretations of nature and energy that connect you more deeply to life and touch on subjects like inner freedom, self love, hope, and being completely alive.

My fluid art journey has evolved over the years, but it started as an outlet for the severe anxiety I was experiencing. To anyone who has anxiety: I'm sending you so much love and hope.

I started fluid art thinking it would just be a hobby. I didn't know how much I'd fall in love with it or how addictive it would be! I still remember the smell of opening up my first brand new canvas and the feel of the wet paint on my hands. When I was painting I felt like I could breathe. Like I could let go of the huge weight I was carrying.

A Bit About Me 🌎

I’m very passionate about animals and the environment. I have two rescue cats, I support animal rights, and am part of various other organizations including a beekeepers association. 🐝 Yes you read that right, I love bees.

Our world of technology, distractions, and material obsession has never felt real to me. Nature, simplicity, and true connection are the only things that have ever felt real.

As I've searched for purpose and meaning in this life, what's brought me the most happiness is helping animals. It gives me that 'this is what I'm here for' feeling.

And while sometimes the weight of knowing I can't save every animal feels heavy, I know that every act of kindness, no matter how small, makes a difference. 💛 Read more about how I help animals here.

Starting Fluid Art

I tried fluid art 4 1/2 years ago because I was experiencing anxiety. I wanted to do something that felt light and something that was easy. But I quickly realized fluid art was a little harder than it looked! I started posting videos of my creation process on my YouTube just to be brave, vulnerable, and to document my journey.

I had no idea it would grow into what it is today where I have the privilege of teaching and entertaining so many of you worldwide with my videos and knowledge of fluid art.

And after using that 4 1/2 years to practice, fail, try again, and learn the science behind fluid art, today I make very intentional pours. I get cells when and where I want them.

But I relate to being at the beginning ~ using every weird product trying to get cells, making a mess with silicone, muddy colors, the base layer swallowing the other colors. I've experienced it all, you’re not alone.

Teaching Fluid Art

Teaching fluid art has become the passion I never expected to have.

I know what it feels like to start pouring for simple joy only to get lost in all the complicated recipes and fluid art chaos.

I know what it feels like to think I've 'tried everything.' To sort through conflicting advice only to later find out that much of what you hear isn't even correct.

That's why I keep fluid art simple. I use simple recipes and only a few colors. I teach how to get cells without silicone or any other long and bizarre ingredient lists.

I am so full of gratitude that I get to be a part of helping you on your own fluid art journey: taking the mystery out of cells and lacing, getting bright vibrant mud-free colors, and creating paintings that leave you proud and thinking "I can't believe I just made that!"

I hope fluid art brings you as much joy as it has brought me. I hope you create unapologetically, with curiosity and bravery.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for reading my story.
